On the 19th of October, our CEO Iseult Ward was honoured to be invited to the 2022 World Food Forum at the FAO headquarters in Rome. She joined Beewise, Chemonics International, EBRD, Migros Ticaret A.Ş., Nestlé, NextGen Ag Impact Network, and Savola Foods Company for a panel discussion on Private Sector Innovation. The private sector has a major role to play in innovation processes and agrifood systems transformation. The panel discussion presented initiatives fostering youth engagement, entrepreneurship, and innovation from various perspectives.
Before our engagement at the WFF’22, Iseult was proud to have the opportunity to join the FAO International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste conference alongside Maximo Torero, Chief Economist of UN FAO, H.E Qu Dongyu, Director-General at the UNFAO, David M. Beasley, Executive Director of the World Food Programme, and Gilbert F. Houngbo, President of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).
The third International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste made a clear call to action for public and private entities from across the food system to act now to reduce food loss and waste and raise awareness among consumers of the urgent need for actions they can take to cut food waste. The number of people affected by hunger continues to show an increasing trend, with 3.1bn people worldwide unable to access a healthy diet. At the same time, food waste generates 8% - 10% of GHG emissions, contributing to an unstable climate and extreme weather events such as droughts and flooding.
