Nestlé Ireland are continuing their long-standing support of FoodCloud by donating additional non-surplus products to FoodCloud Hubs in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
In 2018, Nestlé Ireland and FoodCloud announced a new partnership where Nestlé Ireland committed to supply all of their surplus stock to benefit the Community Groups FoodCloud support. They were also the first Irish food supplier to make a per-pallet financial contribution for surplus food redistribution.
To-date, Nestlé Ireland has supported FoodCloud in redistributing 22.3 tonnes of surplus food. When Covid-19 increased the need for food, Nestlé Ireland went above and beyond and committed to donate additional items for FoodCloud to redistribute to Charities and Community Groups around the country.
Since the beginning of March, in response to the crisis, they have donated more than 11 tonnes of surplus and non-surplus products donating the equivalent of 104,000 cups of coffee, 80,000 bowls of cereal, 23,000 Easter eggs and 19,000 bars of confectionery, all of which go on to support individuals and families in Ireland.
Nestlé Ireland are prime examples of the Kindness Food Chain, and FoodCloud could not do what we do without the support of each individual on the team. Thanks to Kindness Hero, James Marshall, Supply Chain Manager for Nestlé Ireland, who says:
“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching out and supporting FoodCloud with items of food for distribution to Charities and Community Groups around the country. “
James is one of many Food Chain Kindness Heroes helping FoodCloud ensure food gets to families and individuals all over Ireland.
